Creative Exchange’s stories in the Special Features section offer in-depth looks at issues facing artists and communities, highlighting cross-sector partnerships, new resources, and imagining new possibilities. See series and highlights below, or see all the special features here.

Toolkit Cohorts

Creative Exchange has convened and supported two cohorts of artists and arts organizations in creating toolkits from their signature programs. We are honored to have worked with the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Metro Arts of Nashville, Macon Arts Alliance, Moviemento de Arte y Cultura Latinoamericana, Handbarrow Theater, Patrick’s Cabaret, Springfield Regional Arts Council, and Write Denver on toolkits, and to have featured their work more broadly.

Creative Economy

The work of Springboard for the Arts is rooted in arts-based economic and community development. We believe artists are critical assets in that work, and support them by offering a variety of resources that enable them to make both a living and a life. This is why Springboard is a member of the New Economy Coalition, read these special features below.

International Downtown Association

In 2016-2017, Springboard for the Arts partnered with the International Downtowns Association with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts. Springboard and IDA partnered to train IDA’s members – downtown improvement districts, business districts, and place managers – on working with artists, and to seed pilot programs across the IDA membership. The resulting stories and toolkit are available as inspiration for others to spark these cross-sector partnerships.
